Fees & Payments
How are payments handled?
Paying through GigXchange happens in two payments, not one. Both are held securely rather than passed straight on, and Stripe handles the card details — GigXchange never sees them.
- A deposit when you book. You choose what share of the agreed fee it is, up to half. (If the whole fee is under £20, or you are booking as an organiser, you pay the whole fee in one go and there is no balance.)
- The balance, before the gig. A Pay balance button sits on the booking from the moment it is confirmed, so you can pay it whenever you like. It must be paid before the gig, and you are reminded from a week out.
- The gig happens.
- 5 days after the gig date, everything held is released to the performer in one payment.
The 5% booking fee is added on top of the agreed fee and split across the two payments in the same proportion. Every amount is shown before you confirm.
Holding the money is the point. The performer knows the fee is really there before they travel; the booker knows nothing is released until the gig has actually happened.
Every transaction is listed under Payments, so both sides have a full record.
