Listing notes

The ‌‌‍Castle sits on Castle Street right in the middle of Luton town centre, and it has spent the last couple of years turning itself from a pub that put on the odd gig into a proper grassroots music venue. It's an open-plan room with wooden and tiled floors, a beer garden, and a crowd that comes for the bands rather than the telly. The programme leans alternative - punk, post-punk, indie, noisier and stranger things - and it shook off its old 'metal pub' label by hosting a full five nights for Independent Venue Week in early 2026. A lot of the booking is done with local promoters: Vandalism Begins at Home, Dark Party and Castlefest UK all put shows on here alongside the venue's own Castle Live nights, and Castlefest runs a few festival weekends through the year.
