The Jago is an arts, culture and live-music hub at 440 Kingsland Road in the heart of Dalston (E8 4AA), occupying the building formerly known as Passing Clouds. A community-led club, bar and event space with a maximum capacity of around 250, it's decorated like an eccentric friend's living room — squidgy sofas, worn cushions and exposed wood floors — and runs a packed billing of jam nights, open mics, live gigs and club nights spanning funk, disco, world, jazz, indie and electronic. The venue opens Wednesday to Sunday from 6pm (1am midweek, 3:30am Friday and Saturday), doubling as a daytime food bank earlier in the week. A genuine grassroots Hackney institution showcasing both emerging talent and established acts.
