Cafe OTO is a single-room cafe, bar and roughly 150-capacity music space at 18-22 Ashwin Street in Dalston, opened in 2008 and now one of London's most respected homes for experimental, free-jazz, improvised and avant-garde music. In its own words it provides a home for creative new music that exists outside of the mainstream, with an evening programme of adventurous live music seven nights a week, taking in folk, rock, noise and electronica alongside the improvised end. The room mixes seated and standing areas on most shows and runs with an in-house PA and engineer. By day it is a cafe and shop serving pastries and snacks and selling books, records, tapes and CDs, open 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sundays.
