About Caledonia

The Caledonia - the Cali - was a much-loved, dog-friendly free house at 22 Caledonia Street in Liverpool's Georgian quarter, widely rated as one of the city's best live-music pubs and a genuine hub for grassroots musicians. The fully vegan venue sold local craft beer and real ale and put on free shows specialising in jazz, Latin, folk, rock and roll, skiffle, swing, blues, country and bluegrass, with regular all-age family-friendly Sunday sessions; it won Live Music Pub of the Year from its local CAMRA branch in 2011. It closed permanently on 8 March 2025, with licensee Laura King citing the cost-of-living crisis, after a temporary closure over a historic electricity bill. CAMRA lists it as closed long term with its future uncertain. The listing is kept here as a record - it may yet reopen under new hands.
