Future ‌‌‍Yard is a 280-capacity grassroots music venue, bar, coffee shop and rehearsal-studio complex at 75 Argyle Street in Birkenhead, Wirral (Merseyside). Opened in 2021 by Future Yard CIC, it programmes the best in contemporary alternative, jazz, electronic, folk and experimental music and has hosted the likes of Gruff Rhys, OMD, Doves and Black Country, New Road, with artist rehearsal rooms in the basement. Its free open mic is for solo singer-songwriters (not full band setups) — performers don't book in advance, just turn up and speak to staff, play two or three songs (at least one original preferred) and get a drink token. The venue also runs 'Wordsmithery', an open-mic spoken-word and poetry night. Open seven days a week.
