The Brudenell Social Club is a celebrated independent live-music venue and members' social club at 33 Queens Road in Hyde Park, Leeds (LS6). Formed in 1913 as a gentleman's social and recreational club, it shifted decisively towards music as the surrounding area became a student quarter, and is now an essential part of the city's live scene. The club is split into three areas: a 400-capacity concert room, a bar and games room section that occasionally holds gigs, and a second 400-capacity concert space known as the Community Room, which opened in 2017. It hosts events most nights of the week, put on by a wide range of local promoters and covering a broad spread of genres, with a strong indie, rock, acoustic and blues thread, an in-house PA, cheap bar prices and a fiercely loyal following. It is best known for secret gigs by the likes of Franz Ferdinand and Kaiser Chiefs.
