Bookings & Gigs
How do I work out what to charge or pay for a gig?
Use the free gig rate calculator. It is built on the GX Index, our open dataset of real UK gig fees, refreshed nightly. No account is needed.
- Choose your side: I'm an artist, I'm a venue, I'm an agent or I'm a promoter.
- Finish the sentence: the band size (solo act, duo, 3–4 piece or 5+ piece), the city (or any UK city) and the type of gig, from weddings and corporate events to pubs and bars, clubs and festivals.
- Read the result: a headline figure, the middle range of fees for that kind of gig, and a line of advice written for your side.
Switch the chart between Shape and Percentiles to see the spread. A Low sample mark means few fees are behind that answer, so treat it as a guide. If there is not enough data for your choice, widen it to any UK city or any event type.
The same calculator sits on the GX Index page, alongside the monthly reports and the methodology.
Add your own fee. Every anonymous answer sharpens the Index. Press Submit your rate on either page, or use the gig pay survey: press Add my gig, answer four short steps (the type of gig, how many of you played, where it was, and what you took home), then press See where I stand to see how your fee compares.
These are market figures to help you set a fee, not prices set by GigXchange. The fee on a booking is whatever you and the other side agree — see how do bookings work?.
