Wolverhampton ‌‌‍Arts Centre (formerly Newhampton Arts Centre) is a registered charity on Dunkley Street, based in the historic Municipal Grammar School buildings. Alongside studios, a gallery hall and a cafe and bar, its theatre is the music room - the centre reckons it has some of the best music acoustics in the city - holding up to 250 for standing gigs or 140 seated. The live programme runs two strands, Jazz at Wolverhampton Arts Centre and Folk at Wolverhampton Arts Centre, with names such as the Mike Lindup Trio, the Klara Devlin Quartet with the Josh Bailey Trio, Norrie MacIver and James Yorkston. Songwriters like Jon Allen & The Luna Kings and tribute nights such as Genesis Songbook and a Nine Inch Nails tribute bill round it out, and the centre took part in Everywhere at Once in June 2026. You can also hire the theatre for your own gig: hire comes with a technician to set up and run the show and a front-of-house manager, with a full PA, lighting and a drum kit available, and a tech spec to download from the site.
