The Cart & Horses is an East London institution at 1 Maryland Point, Stratford (E15 1PF) — proudly billed as the Birthplace of Iron Maiden, who played their first weekly residency here from 1976 to 1978. Recently refurbished, the pub now pairs a relaxed main bar with a brand-new basement live-music room holding up to 120 people, hosting rock, metal and punk bands plus DJs. Live bands and DJs play weekly, with party nights running until 3am every Friday and Saturday. Open from noon daily, just 50 yards from Maryland Station and a short walk from Stratford, it remains a magnet for metal fans visiting the capital.
