Blackheath Common is the large open heath straddling the Lewisham and Greenwich boroughs in south-east London, split by the A2 and best known as the start line of the London Marathon. It is not a venue in the usual sense - there is no building, stage or PA - but each summer Dartmouth Field on Goffers Road (SE3 0UA) becomes a fenced festival site: KISSTORY on Blackheath, the over-18s old-skool and anthems day across four stages with doors from 1pm and a 10.30pm finish, plus the family-oriented Uptown Festival and the free Neighbourhood on Blackheath with tribute acts, all across the same late-July weekend. Every event is a licensed ticketed production run by a promoter under council permission, so opportunities for artists are through those promoters' bookers rather than the heath itself.
