Babel Art House is a community café and restaurant on Stoke Newington High Street, between Dalston and Stoke Newington, serving Turkish and Mediterranean food upstairs and running a busy events programme in its basement hall. That basement — fitted with a stage, PA, lighting and projector — hosts what Babel bills as one of London's top open mics, accredited by bodies including ICMP and Groover. Held on selected Wednesdays, it's an eclectic, all-comers night welcoming musicians of every genre plus spoken-word artists, actors and dancers, with 8–10 minute slots.
