Three Wise Monkeys is a spacious four-floor modern tap house and American-style barbecue smokehouse at 60 High Street in Colchester city centre (CO1 1DN). The ground-floor Tap House pours over 20 traditional ales and craft beers — including the venue's own Other Monkey Brewing range — while a basement Gin Bar runs a speakeasy/boiler-room vibe on Friday and Saturday nights. Live music is the draw on the top floor: a dedicated 180-capacity room hosting gigs, comedy, spoken word and theatre, with a free fortnightly jam session on Wednesdays welcoming local players. The booking policy is broad and grassroots-friendly, mixing original acts and covers across rock, indie and acoustic, all served by an in-house PA. Slow-cooked smoked barbecue and gourmet burgers are available throughout the day.
