The New Fountain Inn is a newly restored free house at the heart of Whimple, in the East Devon countryside just outside Exeter. It's a proper village local — real fire, garden, traditional pub games, family-friendly — that pairs affordable food and drink with a steady run of live music. Bands play on selected Saturday nights (the line-up is posted on their events page and Facebook), and there's an open-mic night on the first Sunday of every month that's open to local players, alongside charity pub quizzes on Sundays. Open 11am to 11pm seven days a week, it's a welcoming, community-run spot for acoustic and covers acts on the Exeter fringe.
