About Orchard West

Orchard West was a 1,000-seat temporary theatre on the Westgate site in Hythe Street, Dartford, Kent, a five-minute walk from the main Orchard Theatre. Built in six weeks and opened in December 2023, it kept the Orchard programme running while RAAC-concrete remediation works were carried out at the permanent building, presenting touring musicians, comedians, dance, theatre, tribute shows and two pantomime seasons. Across 14 months of operation it welcomed over 160,000 guests and presented 257 performances, and a further 330,000 pounds was approved to keep it running to September 2026. It staged its last performance on Friday 4 September 2026 and has now closed. The refurbished Orchard Theatre reopens to audiences with Cinderella on Saturday 12 December 2026.
