The Cliffs Pavilion is a major theatre, concert, sports and exhibition venue on Station Road in Westcliff-on-Sea, a seafront suburb of Southend-on-Sea, Essex — the largest purpose-built arts venue in the county and the highest-capacity theatre in the East of England. Originally opened in 1964 and enlarged in 1991-92 with the addition of a balcony, it seats around 1,630 (rising to roughly 2,268 with standing). It stages more than 300 performances a year across a broad bill: ballet, opera and classical music alongside headline rock and pop acts, tribute shows (such as Queen of the Night), major comedians and the borough's largest pantomime. A fully professional, fully equipped concert house rather than a grassroots room.
