Exeter Phoenix is a multi-arts centre on Gandy Street, reopened in 1999 after a National Lottery-funded rebuild, with an auditorium seating 216 or holding 450 standing. Early-career gigs by Arctic Monkeys, Biffy Clyro and Idles all took place here, alongside indie, electronic, folk, experimental music, cinema, comedy and visual art year-round. The South West's primary mid-scale arts venue between Bristol and Plymouth.
