The Night

The Tipsy Owl, Pontypridd's first speakeasy-style cocktail bar, runs an open mic every other Thursday from 8pm, hosted by Kaysha Louvain and Kurt Jones. Each performer gets up to 15 minutes on a top-quality PA in a cosy events space — covers or originals, all welcome. Book your slot ahead online via the TIWN Media form; entry is free.

About Tipsy Owl

Tipsy Owl is a basement bar tucked off Pontypridd High Street (5 High Street, The Basement, CF37 1QJ) — note the venue is actually in Pontypridd, Rhondda Cynon Taf, despite the Cardiff city slug. It serves coffee, cocktails and craft keg beer from Welsh breweries (Grey Trees, Glamorgan, Flowerhorn, Tiny Rebel) and doubles as a cosy live-music room with a top-quality PA. The performer fixture is the open mic every other Thursday, hosted by Kaysha Louvain and Kurt Jones, with up to 15-minute slots per artist. Open Thursday to Saturday, 5pm till midnight. A small, intimate space (around 70) that's a genuine grassroots hub for the Pontypridd and wider Cardiff-area scene.

Planning Your Thursday Night

Arrive by 18:30 to sign up for a slot. Entry is free and the open mic typically runs until late. A PA is provided — bring your own instrument and amp.
