About This Open Mic
The Night
A traditional, music-led pub on New Writtle Street, The United Brethren puts on live music most nights and hosts a regular Tuesday folk session — acoustic practice from 8pm in the back room (all welcome), then playing in the main bar from 9pm. Expect a broad, original-friendly mix from folk and blues to rock, soul and Americana. Always free to enter.
About The United Brethren
The United Brethren — known locally as the UB — is one of Chelmsford's best-loved grassroots music pubs, named best Essex live venue at the 2019 Panic Awards. It puts on free live music at least three nights a week, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and often midweek too, spanning folk, rock, blues, soul, jazz, Americana and bluegrass, with plenty of original material. A spacious, dog-friendly pub with a big garden, a giant tepee and a rear function room, it's a genuine home for performing musicians.
