About This Open Mic
The Night
The Trumpet is a one-of-a-kind jazz pub on Bilston High Street, where live jazz has been played most nights since the late 1950s — a genuine institution. Its open mic runs every Thursday from 8pm: turn up, show off your skills, and you might even get booked for a regular evening gig. Free admission, intimate room, and a crowd that knows its music — best suited to jazz and acoustic players who fancy sitting in.
About The Trumpet
The Trumpet is a one-room live jazz pub at 58 High Street, Bilston (WV14 0EP), near Wolverhampton — renowned in the UK jazz world as the only venue hosting live jazz every single day, and twice on Sundays. Walls and ceiling are crammed with music memorabilia, and it pours Holden's award-winning ales with no jukebox and no pool table to compete with the music. Admission is free, with a collection tray and raffle when bands play (note: cash only). A blue plaque commemorates jazz entertainer Tommy Burton, who played here for years, and the pub was a regular haunt of the band Slade. Alongside jazz it also books other genres; a house PA is provided.
