The Night
The Mad Hatter is an Alice in Wonderland-themed cafe bar on Manor Street in Hull's Old Town, and it hosts the weekly Acoustic Wonderland Open Mic every Wednesday from 8pm. It's a warm, supportive, all-abilities-and-genres room — turn up, sign on and play — and most weeks there's a booked featured guest who takes a slightly longer set around 9pm. Expect a friendly crowd, a good range of drinks and a genuinely encouraging atmosphere for first-timers.
About The Mad Hatter
The Mad Hatter Cafe Bar is a tiny, Alice-in-Wonderland-themed pub on Manor Street in Hull's Old Town (HU1 1YP) — reputedly Hull's smallest pub, reopened and reorganised in August 2024. Despite its size it punches above its weight for live music, hosting the regular 'Acoustic Wonderland' open mic and acoustic night where players of all abilities and genres are invited to take the floor from 8pm in a supportive, friendly atmosphere. With a house PA, a cracking range of local beers (including Newsome Brewery) and craft cocktails, it's a much-loved grassroots room rated 4.9/5 by visitors.
