The Cellar Door is an independent micropub in the heart of Newport, Gwent, focused on real ales and local ciders in an intimate, distraction-free space. Through its Cellar Door Sessions it champions grassroots musicians, giving them a small but enthusiastic room to play, and it has hosted open mic nights such as the NouveauDivergent night. Free to attend, all ages welcome.
About The Cellar Door
The Cellar Door is a micropub in Newport, opened in 2017 in a former computer shop, with no TV, games machines or pool table — just good local cider and cask ale and a real love of live music. The Cellar Door Sessions present and nurture musicians from Newport to West Africa, often on Sunday evenings, giving solo performers and duos an intimate space and an audience that genuinely listens. It doubles as a tiny gallery for local artists too.
