About This Open Mic
The Night
ACE Space's Open Mic / Unplugged runs on the first Friday of every month (except August), with doors at 7pm and music from 7:30pm. Billed as one of West Berkshire's most popular open mic nights, it welcomes all styles, ages and experience levels across music, poetry and comedy, hosted by ACE Space chairperson Adam Kotz. A PA system covers vocals and ambient micing of acoustic instruments, with DI boxes available for guitars and a house keyboard on hand.
About ACE Space
ACE Space is a volunteer-run Arts, Community and Enterprise hall in central Newbury on St Nicholas Road, a few minutes from the station. It has run regular monthly gigs since November 2014 (hitting its 100th gig in March 2026) plus the town's most popular open mic on the first Friday of every month — acoustic music, poetry and spoken word in a warm room with a stage and good acoustics. There's a step-free ramp and an affordable bar pouring local West Berkshire Brewery real ales, making it a friendly grassroots spot for emerging acts.
