The Night

The Corn Exchange Newbury runs a free Open Mic Night in its Balcony Bar on the first Sunday of every month, and it's a genuinely varied bill — anything from live music and spoken word to close-up magic. It's a curated night rather than a free-for-all: you apply ahead of time via the form on the Corn Exchange website and the team gets in touch if there's a slot, balancing the line-up so no single act type dominates. All ages welcome (under-14s with an adult), and there's a piano in the room. A lovely, well-run platform for Newbury performers.

About Corn Exchange

The Corn Exchange Newbury is a 400-seat arts centre and theatre in the heart of Newbury, programming theatre, dance, music, film, comedy and visual arts. Its monthly open mic takes over the intimate Balcony Bar on the first Sunday of the month, a free, anything-goes evening spanning live music and spoken word through to close-up magic. Two fully licensed bars and a café make it an easy place to perform or just watch.

Planning Your Sunday Night

Arrive by 18:30 to sign up for a slot. Entry is free and the open mic typically runs until 22:00. A PA is provided — bring your own instrument and amp.
