The Golden Lion is a cult independent pub and music venue at Fielden Square in Todmorden, West Yorkshire (OL14 6LZ) - a craft-beer bar housed in the town's oldest building, serving hardcore Thai food right up to doors. Taken over in 2015 and turned into a live room and community hub, it runs across two levels with a downstairs pub and dancefloor and a live room upstairs with a floating DJ booth, hosting an eclectic roster of live bands, DJs and community events and running its own Golden Lion Sounds record label. The autumn 2026 diary alone takes in Dead Sea Apes, Carlton Melton with The Cosmic Dead, Erol Alkan and Daniel Avery. Despite its small-town setting it has drawn names like Jarvis Cocker, Groove Armada, The Orb, Goldie, Leftfield, Don Letts and the late Andrew Weatherall, and Vice called it a shining example of small-town ingenuity and community spirit.
