About Old Bakery Studios
Old Bakery Studios is a grassroots music venue in City Centre, Truro with a standing capacity of approximately 300. Bring your own PA, mics and instruments.
Old Bakery Studios books Indie, Acoustic, Folk, DIY acts. Both original music and covers are welcome. This listing is part of the Truro venue directory.
Old Bakery Studios sits in a historic former bakery at Blewetts Wharf on Malpas Road, a few minutes from the centre of Truro. Alongside 50-odd studios and workspaces, the ground-floor events room is a low-ceilinged industrial space holding 200 seated or 300 standing — small enough to feel like a proper grassroots room, big enough to carry a touring bill. Lighting and sound are in-house, with the venue's own engineers on the desk, so bands can turn up and play. The booking policy is genuinely eclectic: indie, acoustic, folk and DIY acts, plus fringe theatre, film screenings, art events and a regular stand-up night, the Comedy Cupboard. It is one of the more useful independent rooms in Cornwall for an act building an audience.
