Athena is a landmark multi-discipline events venue on Queen Street in Leicester city centre (LE1 1QD). Originally designed in 1936 by Robert Arthur Bullivant as an Odeon Cinema, it has been restored to its art-deco splendour and now hosts everything from concerts and comedy to award ceremonies, gala dinners and conferences. The tiered Cinema Suite carries a large stage and dance floor, a full bar, an Ethos 1 Prologic house PA, a 10m x 5m cinema screen and a fully-equipped lighting rig. Its live-music calendar runs across rock, pop, country, soul and tribute acts — past and upcoming bills include The Shires, Bad Manners, Elo Again, The Story of Swing and a Road to Nashville rodeo show.
