Greyfriars Kirk is a historic church (founded 1620) in Edinburgh's Old Town, off Greyfriars Place (EH1), renowned for a magnificent acoustic that makes it a frequent host for performing-arts events. It regularly stages orchestral and choral concerts and organ recitals, welcoming prestigious ensembles such as The Sixteen, the Edinburgh Symphony Orchestra, the Dunedin Consort, the SCO Chorus, Edinburgh University Symphony Orchestra and Delphian Records, and runs the weekly free Greyfriars@12 lunchtime concert series (Thursdays at noon during term). The sanctuary holds an in-house Yamaha C6X grand piano and a three-manual Peter Collins organ. For most concerts it is hired as a venue-only space with no fixed seating capacity, varying with the size of the performing forces.
