New Gate Arts & Culture Centre is one of the newest community arts venues in Derry/Londonderry, on Kennedy Street in the heart of the city centre, a few minutes' walk from the historic city walls and St Columb's Cathedral. A recent retrofit and extension (a 2025 RSUA/RIBA-award-shortlisted project by McGurk Architects) gave the building a new theatre, café, dance studio, multi-purpose rooms, office space and a rooftop terrace. It runs a year-round cultural programme of theatre, live music and dance plus creative-learning workshops, with the music side leaning folk, Celtic, traditional and acoustic — the source listing here was a solo show by Scottish artist Calum MacPhail. It's a genuine, recently rebuilt community arts venue, not a London room.
