Upfront Arts is a rural arts venue set in converted 17th-century farm buildings at Unthank, near Hutton-in-the-Forest and Penrith in Cumbria — not London. Established in 1997, it combines an art gallery, a purpose-built 128-seat theatre (with one of only four puppet theatres in England), a vegetarian café-restaurant and event space, plus on-site holiday accommodation. The music programme leans folk, acoustic, roots and world, and the venue has won regional sustainable-tourism and cultural awards. It runs as a small, seated, programmed arts space rather than a city-centre band room.
