Hatfield House is a Jacobean stately home and 1,000-acre estate at Hatfield in Hertfordshire (AL9 5HX), a few miles from Hertford and St Albans. It is a recognised live-music host: the Hatfield House Music Festival, founded in 2012 and curated by cellist Guy Johnston, brings a long weekend of chamber concerts each autumn to the breathtaking Marble Hall (home of the Rainbow Portrait of Elizabeth I), the Old Palace and St Etheldreda's Church. The 2026 festival runs Thursday 8 to Sunday 11 October, with 5pm and 7.30pm Marble Hall concerts including musicians of the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, the Julian Bliss Jazz Quintet and Sir Andras Schiff, and past performers including Sheku Kanneh-Mason, Alison Balsom and The Sixteen. A festival launch with the Tippett Quartet was held in the Marble Hall on 8 May. The grounds also stage open-air shows, Classic Ibiza (the 32-piece Urban Soul Orchestra reworking White Isle house), Battle Proms and picnic concerts, alongside fireworks nights and seasonal events.
