The 1 in 12 Club on Albion Street is a member-run, not-for-profit DIY venue that has been a cornerstone of Bradford's punk and hardcore scene since 1981. Founded on anarchist principles of self-management, co-operation and mutual aid, the multi-floor building pairs its basement gig space with a renowned anarchist library, formally opened in 1996 by Albert Meltzer. It still books touring punk and hardcore acts, with 2026 shows including Nervous Twitch, The Restarts and Pete Bentham and The Dinner Ladies, and it hosts the annual Means to an End punk and hardcore festival. Membership keeps the club running, making it one of the longest-running autonomous music spaces in the UK.
