Vaults is one of Cardiff's most distinctive underground clubs, set in the basement of Portland House at 113-116 Bute Street (CF10 5EQ) — a former 1926 bank whose old vault rooms, 6ft-thick concrete walls, original vault doors and metal money cages now house the dancefloors. Widely rated among the best underground venues in the UK, it programmes house, techno, progressive and drum & bass, with monthly nights drawing top names on the electronic scene. The space runs a state-of-the-art Void sound system and a full custom intelligent lighting rig, while the banking hall above serves as a bar and chill-out space with high vaulted ceilings, marble staircases and sculptured pillars. Capacity sits around 500.
