Union Chapel is a working Grade I-listed Gothic-revival church on Compton Terrace in Islington that doubles as one of London's most atmospheric live-music rooms and a homeless drop-in charity. The main chapel seats around 900 beneath a soaring nave and was voted London's Best Live Music Venue by Time Out readers in 2002, 2012 and 2014. It programmes roughly 250 events a year — an eclectic mix of folk, acoustic, indie, world music, spoken word and comedy — alongside a 220-seat Studio Theatre and 220-capacity Upper Hall. House sound and lighting are provided; the natural acoustics of the church are a draw in themselves.
