The Windmill is a compact, candlelit music venue and pub at 22 Blenheim Gardens, Brixton, in South London, with a capacity of around 150. Opened in 1971 as a neighbourhood pub for the Blenheim Gardens Estate, it reinvented itself from 2002 under booker Tim Perry into one of the UK's most respected grassroots rooms, hosting emerging indie, alternative and experimental acts seven nights a week. It is famous as a launching pad for bands including Black Midi, Black Country New Road and Squid, and was voted the third-best live-music venue in London in a 2012 Time Out readers' poll.
