The Counting House (The Ballroom) is a grand 18th-century listed function suite on West Nicolson Street in Edinburgh's Southside/Newington — part of The Pear Tree / 32Below complex, built in 1749 and once frequented by Robert Burns. The recently refurbished Ballroom is set out cabaret-style beneath its famous listed central dome and four chandeliers, and runs a state-of-the-art Martin Audio PA and lighting rig. A two-minute walk from the Fringe heartland, it serves as a busy free-Fringe venue every August (as many as 63 shows a day) and hosts ceilidhs, weddings, dance nights and live music across the rest of the year.
