The Caves is one of Edinburgh's most atmospheric venues, set within an underground 18th-century structure beneath South Bridge known as The Vaults — a restored series of interlocking brick-walled stone chambers forming part of a UNESCO World Heritage site. Located at 8-12 Niddry Street South in the Old Town (EH1 1NS), it holds around 450 across two levels in a single unreserved freeflow space served by two bars (one downstairs, one on the balcony). The dramatic, candlelit-stone setting hosts touring live acts — from blues and rock to club nights with house and techno guest DJs — alongside weddings and one-off events, and is a Fringe-season fixture.
