St George's Bristol is a world-class independent music venue housed in a beautifully preserved Grade II*-listed Georgian church built in 1823, just off Park Street near Brandon Hill. The 580-seat concert hall is renowned for its acoustics — Sir Simon Rattle called it 'the best acoustic for chamber music in Europe' — and it presents a programme of more than 200 live events a year spanning classical, jazz, folk, world and contemporary music, plus a philosophy season, family events, lunchtime concerts, author talks and comedy. A contemporary pavilion-style extension adds a Cafe Bar and Glass Studio. The original description (rock/pop with no in-house PA, bring-your-own) was inaccurate: this is a fully equipped, professionally programmed seated concert hall.
