Projekts MCR Skatepark is an independently run skate park beneath the Mancunian Way flyover behind Manchester Piccadilly station, doubling as one of the city's most distinctive live-music spaces. Alongside skate classes and a cafe/shop, it has partnered with DIY promoters Sour Grapes Records to run WAX — billed as the UK's only recurring gig night staged in an open-air skatepark — where skaters session the bowls alongside live bands and a private bar. The programme leans into touring garage rock, psych, post-punk and punk, with acts such as DEADLETTER and Shame booked through 2026, and the Meltchester festival returning to the park.
