Poplar Social Club is a members' social club in Accrington (Wellington Street, BB5 2NJ) that has been bringing people together since 1911. Its members' lounge holds up to around 90 for snooker, pool and darts, but it doubles as a live-music room — billed as the home of rock 'n' roll in the area with two Friday gig nights a month, plus Northern Soul nights and tribute acts such as Stereosonics (the UK's number-one Stereophonics tribute) and a Foo Fighters tribute. The hall is also available for hire for tribute bands, weddings and parties. City field 'Accrington' is correct; the slug's 'blackburn' reflects the local ticketing region.
