Night & Day Café is a legendary independent café-bar and live-music venue on Oldham Street in Manchester's Northern Quarter, opposite Piccadilly Records. Opened in 1991 in a former chip shop, it has an intimate 250 capacity and a reputation for catching huge acts early — Arctic Monkeys, Elbow, Kasabian, The Courteeners, Blossoms, Manic Street Preachers and Paolo Nutini all played here on the way up. By day it serves breakfasts, burgers and real ales; by night it's one of the city's most storied grassroots stages, licensed until 2am Monday to Saturday.
