Niamos is a co-operatively run radical arts and culture centre on Chichester Road in central Hulme, Manchester, housed in a Grade II listed Edwardian theatre built in 1901. Reopened by a community co-operative in 2018 after 27 years dark, the building was once the first Afro-Caribbean-led theatre in Europe — Nina Simone sang here in 1991 and The Beatles played the stage decades earlier. Today it combines a music studio, micro-bakery, visual-arts space and live venue, with regular Wednesday Jam nights plus live music, reggae and soul sessions, DJ sets, comedy and theatre. A genuine grassroots, community-owned cultural hub.
