La Belle Angèle is a 600-capacity club and live music venue in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town at 11 Hastie's Close, just off the Cowgate. The original venue stood at the forefront of the city's underground art, music and clubbing scene from the early nineties — hosting early shows by Oasis, Radiohead and The Libertines — before being destroyed in the 2002 Cowgate fire. Rebuilt and reopened twelve years later, it now programmes club nights and live artists across every genre, from house and techno to indie, reggae and classical, with a strong house sound system. A cornerstone of Edinburgh's grassroots and electronic music culture.
