JT Soar is one of Nottingham's most loved DIY venues — a ground-floor former fruit-and-vegetable warehouse just off Sneinton Market, converted by a group of young musicians around 2009 into a music space, rehearsal rooms and recording studio. It's an all-ages, bring-your-own-booze room with no stage, no bouncers and no bar: tickets are sold but nobody is turned away for lack of funds, and all the door money goes to the bands. It has hosted and incubated independent acts including Sleaford Mods, The Cool Greenhouse, Holiday Ghosts and Haress, and runs its own annual JT Soar Fest. Note the venue is properly spelled 'JT Soar' (singular).
