The Howard Assembly Room is a beautifully restored Victorian concert hall in the heart of Leeds, run by Opera North and sitting alongside the Leeds Grand Theatre at 46 New Briggate (LS1 6NU). Originally built in 1878 as part of a grand entertainment complex and later a cinema, the 330-seat room reopened as an intimate music venue and is loved for a rich, varied programme of gigs, jazz, folk, classical, world music, film, spoken word and workshops. It has welcomed world-class names including Brad Mehldau, The Unthanks, Abdullah Ibrahim and The Tallis Scholars. The on-site HAR bar serves cocktails, Kirkstall ales and street food. A key fixture of the Leeds live-music scene.
