The Grand Opera House York is an elegant Edwardian theatre on Cumberland Street in York's historic city centre (YO1 9SW), close to the River Ouse and Clifford's Tower. Opened on 20 January 1902 and now Grade II listed, it is operated by ATG (Ambassador Theatre Group) and seats around 1,000 across three classic levels — the Stalls, Dress Circle and Grand Circle — plus a handful of side boxes. The venue programmes a broad range of live entertainment including West End musicals, touring live bands, tribute acts, stand-up comedy and family shows, with a professionally staffed in-house PA and technical crew. A proper full-production theatre rather than a DIY grassroots room.
