Alexander's Live has been Chester's independent live-music, comedy and arts venue on Rufus Court since 1991, a roughly 120–150 cap room that claims to be the longest-running comedy club outside London. The programme spans tribute acts, local original bands, blues, folk, open-mic nights and independent theatre, with early sets here by Ed Sheeran and Duffy. In summer it stages larger outdoor gigs in Rufus Court and its own beer garden.
