About This Open Mic
The Night
Venn Street Records in Clapham is the home of live music, cocktails, pizza and good times — and its weekly 'Common People' open mic runs every Wednesday. Sign-up opens at 7:30pm and music plays through to 10:30pm; all music is welcome, the atmosphere is famously supportive and encouraging, and the house PA provides two mics and two line-ins so you can plug straight in. Hosted these days by Brian Grogan, it's one of south London's warmest open nights.
About Venn Street Records
Venn Street Records is a vinyl-clad, music-loving bar at 78 Venn Street in Clapham, right next to the Clapham Picturehouse and just off the Common. From the team behind Old Street Records, it puts on live bands every single night plus DJs, dancing, pizza and a £6-before-6pm happy hour. The music policy is deliberately wide — jazz and Motown through soul, funk, rock and pop — the only rule being that it keeps the good times rolling. Exposed brick, neon signage and old music-magazine spreads give it the feel of a buzzy hotspot for catching the next big thing.
