The Night
The Walnut Tree Shades is a characterful sixteenth-century pub tucked down Old Post Office Court in the heart of Norwich (NR2 1NG), with American-diner decor, a jukebox and live music up to five nights a week. The open mic runs every Thursday from 8:30pm, hosted by Peter Turrell, with slots given out first-come, first-served — so get there early to bag your spot. A warm, long-standing night and one of the city's friendliest stages.
About The Walnut Tree Shades
The Walnut Tree Shades is a Grade II listed pub tucked down Old Post Office Court, just off Gentleman's Walk in the heart of Norwich (NR2 1NG). Run by Craft Union (Stonegate), it styles itself as Norwich's premier American-themed pub, its walls plastered with music memorabilia and a Wurlitzer-style replica jukebox behind the bar. Live music runs three-plus nights a week, every Wednesday through Sunday, in the upstairs room. The cellar keeps regular ales like Adnams Ghost Ship alongside three changing beers from breweries such as Moon Gazer, Lacon's, Grain and Woodforde's; food is served Monday to Saturday. A characterful city-centre room for covers and rock acts.
