About This Open Mic
The Night
Ronnie Scott's is London's world-famous Soho jazz club, and its Tuesday open mic — 'Ruby Sings' — is widely rated one of the best in town. Doors are at 6pm for an 8pm start (running to around 11pm), and it's open to singers, rappers, spoken-word artists and musicians who simply turn up, put their names on the list and take the stage. Entry is £10 on the door only, with a house band backing performers in one of the most storied rooms in the city.
About Ronnie Scott's
Ronnie Scott's is London's world-famous jazz club at 47 Frith Street in Soho (W1), founded in 1959 by saxophonists Ronnie Scott and Pete King and the first UK club to host American jazz musicians regularly. Across more than six decades its stage has hosted Miles Davis, Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Chet Baker, Jimi Hendrix, Prince and Amy Winehouse. The intimate Main Club runs two shows nightly with Late Late Shows on Thursday–Saturday, a vocal jazz jam every Wednesday and Sunday afternoon sessions. A recent expansion added 'Upstairs at Ronnie's', a 140-capacity live-music room with purpose-built acoustics, Yamaha and D&B audio, a Yamaha S3X grand piano and an in-house kitchen. This is a fully professional, booked-programme jazz venue with grand piano and full house sound/engineering — not a grassroots open-mic room.
